Gaborone – Bomaid, Botswana’s leading medical aid provider, continued its 2025 stakeholder outreach with a media engagement hosted at its headquarters in Gaborone on April 8, 2025.
The well-attended event brought together media professionals, Bomaid executives, and staff for a morning of strategic updates and partnership reaffirmation. CEO Mr. Moraki Mokgosana opened the session with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the media’s role in shaping public trust and awareness. “This engagement continues the promise we made to keep our doors open to you as critical partners,” he noted, reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to transparency and collaboration.
He also paid tribute to the late Guardian newspaper Business Editor, Koobonye Ramokopelwa and congratulated Emang Mutapati on her new appointment in the Office of the President. Mokgosana unpacked Bomaid’s Defend, Grow and Transform strategy, which frames the Fund’s efforts to stay agile, accessible, and responsive. He shared the Fund’s progress in enhancing its workforce capacity, including the onboarding of a Chief Customer Experience Officer and Data Protection Officer, to further drive customer-centric service delivery.
Chief Customer Experience Officer Ms. Segolame Macheng presented Bomaid’s 2025 flagship initiative, the STEPS Campaign, which focuses on five core themes: • S: Seamless, unlimited GP and specialist access • T: Timely interventions aligned with national policy • E: Enhanced support for elder members • P: Post-care continuity for better outcomes • S: Strengthened member support through digital and in-person touchpoints Macheng emphasized that “there are no limits” in Bomaid’s quest to ensure healthcare is inclusive and within reach—backed by 16 diverse health plans, regional access via the Maun office, and multiple service platforms including WhatsApp and self-service platforms. The Fund also announced its upcoming Community Wellness Day in partnership with the Dutch Reformed Church, set for May 17th, which forms part of its broader strategy to promote preventive care. Some of the Fund’s 2025 activities include the sponsorship of the upcoming BTC Francistown Marathon, HATAB conference, Provider Pitso as part of the extensive stakeholder engagement plan.
The media was also appraised on the Funds partnerships offering added value to customers. These include AirBotswana, Cresta, Mosha Spa, Garmin, African Bush Camps, Virgin Active, City Active Gym and Propellers Sports Academy for swimming classes and other sports disciplines. Corporate Communications Manager Ms. Tshepo Happy Maphanyane, who directed the programme, noted that “Bomaid’s extensive participation in corporate and community initiatives allows us to connect meaningfully with our customers and future partners across Botswana.” She highlighted the Book Drive initiative with Mosha Spa and the Chobe Enclave Schools Football Tournament supported by African Bush Camps as key examples of Bomaid’s CSR focus this year.
