The University of Botswana (UB) and Sky Clouds (Pty) Ltd have signed a lease agreement that will see the private investor inject over P4 million into the restoration of the long-closed UB Hotel and Conference Centre.

The agreement, signed on Friday, paves the way for the full refurbishment and operational revival of the facility, which has remained dormant for eight years. University authorities say the development marks a significant milestone in unlocking the commercial and academic value of one of its key hospitality assets.

The hotel boasts a capacity of 80 rooms, 15 conference and meeting rooms of varying sizes, as well as a restaurant and bar area. Once fully operational, it is expected to enhance Gaborone’s conferencing capacity whilst positioning itself as a competitive player in the local hospitality market.
