As part of the cause, the SOS children's village in Tlokweng received a P10, 000 donation.In an interview with The Sport Monitor, BOHGA secretary, Sam Lim said the event, which is in its fourth year, is aimed at creating a relationship between Batswana and the Chinese."We also play our part in being part of the community by each year raising funds that are given to selected organisations that are in need of help," he said. He noted that they rely on different sponsors to help Batswana.
Receiving the donation on behalf of SOS, Boniface Kwelegano of the National Family Strengthening Programme SOS Botswana, said they started the family-strengthening programme in 2004 to help children within their families of origin. He stressed that with the programme they enable children at risk of losing the care of their family to grow within a caring family environment. He emphasised that the best place for children to grow is within the family, where caregivers are responsible for their development. Kwelagano said associations like BOHGA help a lot, as funds are needed to keep the programme and the village going.Meanwhile, the golf tournament's best players won some awards.
