Herdsmen fight leaves one dead

A man employed as a herdsman at Letlhakane cattle post in Mmamabula Siding some few kilometres north of Dibete has lost his life in a fight with another herdmen Monday night.

The deceased, a 45-year-old man of Maaloso ward, in Palla Road died of wounds he sustained at the hands of a 24-year-old man of Parwe ward, in Mahalapye. It is reported that the two had a misunderstanding that led to a fight. Investigating the matter, Dibete police station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku said during the tussle the suspect allegedly took a hard object and hit the deceased on the head leaving him lying on the ground motionless.

Ranku said the deceased was certified dead by doctors on arrival at Mahalapye hospital.

He further stated that the Mahalapye native has been arrested and appeared before Mahalapye Magistrates Court faced with a single count of murder today (Wednesday).
