Three people, a couple and their friend are currently in police custody in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man who was stabbed to death with a sharp object early Saturday morning in Extension 1, Palapye.

The trio, Kago Otsogile, 33, of Bokaa village and her boyfriend Tebogo Tshepo (29) of Modimo ward, Majwaneng and their friend, Edwin Motlhagodi aged 35 of Extension 1, Palapye were arrested on Monday for the murder of Innocent Barrel aged 24 of Boikago ward, in Palapye.

On that fateful Saturday at around 2am the deceased’s neighbour heard Barrel screaming for help and when she opened the door, the deceased collapsed by the gate and she saw people running away. Palapye police station commander, Superintendent Molly Lebala-Moduke said the neighbour found the deceased lying by the gate with a deep stab wound on his chest and it is suspected that he was stabbed with a sharp object.

“He was rushed to Palapye hospital where he was certified dead by the doctors on arrival.

The three individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder case and they were arraigned for the deceased’s murder before Palapye Magistrates Court on Wednesday (today),” Lebala-Moduke said. It is alleged that the trio were seen with the deceased prior to his death at a local bar looking for their 'stolen' mobile phone.
