Govt plans steeper fines for overloading

The Ministry of Transport and Communications is in the process of introducing stiffer penalties to curb the overloading of light duty vehicles, in order to reduce accidents. This was said by the minister of Transport and Communications, Tshenolo Mabeo in response to enquiries at the Ntlo ya Dikgosi last Friday.

“We are also concerned as a ministry about some foreign drivers who overload goods from neighbouring countries transiting Botswana,” he said.

“Some of these vehicles contribute to road accidents because other drivers cannot easily see what is happening in front of the overloaded car especially when they want to overtake.
