Broadhurst police are investigating an incident in which a 27-year-old woman has opened a case after she was allegedly raped by her friend’s boyfriend in Block 3, Gaborone on Sunday early morning.

According to the police, the victim had on Saturday night left for the bar with her friend and they later met the friend’s boyfriend. When retiring from the bar, the friend asked the alleged victim to make a stopover in Block 3 to drop her boyfriend off. Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said on arrival at the boyfriend’s place, the girlfriend allegedly told the victim that she was hungry and wanted to cook and eat before proceeding with the journey back home.

“The victim said she was dozing off and asked her friend to let her have a rest and she offered her to take a nap on her boyfriend's bed while she was cooking promising to wake her up once she was done,” he said. Lokae added: “The victim reported that she woke up and found the zip of her jacket broken and felt like she was sexually assaulted with her friend’s boyfriend standing not far from her only wearing a t/shirt and she got worried.
