While moderate alcohol consumption may have certain health benefits, excessive and irresponsible drinking can lead to a myriad of health problems. The social consequences of alcohol abuse are equally alarming. Alcohol-related violence, family disruption, and an increased burden on healthcare systems are among the societal impacts (Rehm et al., 2009).
