Mzansi Magic is proud to announce that its hit telenovela, Inimba, has been renewed for a second season.

This comes after the show’s incredible first season run that has seen it capture the hearts of viewers and continuously dominate social media trends throughout 2025. Since its premiere in April, Inimba has been one of the most talked-about shows, with fans flooding timelines to discuss the gripping storyline after each episode. The consistent hype also contributed to Season 1 being extended by 90 episodes and earning recognition at the South African 2025 National Film and Television Awards (NFTA) for Best Actress in a Television Drama Award, won by Zenande Mfenyana who plays Thumeka.

The win also speaks to the level and quality of the show’s ensemble cast the likes of Lunathi Mampofu who plays Zoleka Bikitsha and Sisanda Hewana playing Hlathi Mabandla who are central to the story. Together with Zenande Mfenyana (Thumeka), Loyiso MacDonald (Lazarus), Ayakha Ntunjwa (Qhawe), Siyabonga Shibe (Sydney) and many other talented Mzansi actors, they ensured that the story of Inimba remains compelling episode after episode. Shirley Adonisi, Director of M-Net's Local Entertainment Channels expressed her excitement: "Inimba has really taken the 21:00 weekly slot by storm as a story that resonates deeply with our viewers because of its focus on the expectations balancing ambition with tradition and complexities of family relationships. The overwhelming response from viewers shows just how much the story resonates and we are thrilled to bring them more."

Season 1 delivered some unforgettable drama, including Zoleka’s shocking return after two decades, the explosive family confrontations that followed with Hlathi repeatedly proclaiming: “KukwaMabandla apha!”, the love story of Zoleka and Lazarus, affectionately named ‘LaZo’ on social media, and the one-hour wedding special that had viewers glued to their screens. Inimba is written by award winning screenwriter and Executive Producer Siphosethu Tshapu of The Milton Empire and supervised by Izwi Multimedia. Season 2 promises even higher stakes, some new faces and twists to keep fans talking in 2026. For now, Inimba Season 1 continues to air on weekdays at 21:00 on Mzansi Magic DStv Channel 161.
