I remember in the old days when passionate folklore guitarists used to make their own instruments from old oil tin cans, a long thick piece of wood and fishing line cords as strings.

Sophisticated four strings guitars were expensive and only a few could afford them at the time. For those who made a living out of playing the guitar, they would save a few coins every now and then until they accumulated enough to buy a proper guitar. These men used to serenade people during weddings and at places like taverns with their melodic sounds.

As children we would take any opportunity whenever our elders asked us to buy a box of Chibuku at the tavern because it meant we would run into one of the folklore guitarist at work.
