A CAF inspection team, which was due to arrive in the country tomorrow to inspect 2027 Africa Cup of Nations venues, has postponed its visit.

The technical bid committee announced today through a press statement that the team is now expected at the end of July or the beginning of August. The shift has been attributed to the last-minute change of the CAF Ordinary General Assembly held in Abidjan last week. Benin was initially scheduled to host the CAF meeting. "While the postponement will no doubt cause some level of inconvenience to the Botswana bid stakeholders, it at the same time allows the bid committee and its stakeholders more time to impress the PriceWaterhouseCoopers led inspection team when it finally arrives in the country," bid committee spokesperson, Tuelo Serufho said through the statement.

The inspection team is expected to visit stadia, hotels and other infrastructure necessary for hosting the 2027 tournament. "We remain ready to welcome the CAF delegation to Botswana and like we did to CAF through our bid book, we will wow them. We have received unprecedented levels of support from both the private and public sector and that alone gives us the confidence that Batswana and business in Botswana are fully behind the project," bid committee chairperson, Ashford Mamelodi said.
