BFA to vote with CAF over Infantino proposal :: Mmegi Online

With FIFA dangling a $40 million (nearly P550 million) windfall to member associations in exchange for backing a proposal to sell stakes in its flagship competitions, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) is expected to fall in line with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) when the vote is held.

Last week, FIFA announced proposals to set up a commercial subsidiary to run events, including the World Cup, which has sparked a backlash, particularly from the influential Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

CAF is FIFA's largest continental federation with 54 members, and the region is known to back president Gianni Infantino's candidacy in May 2027. Morocco will host FIFA's elective congress with Infantino, who has increasingly come under pressure in recent months, standing for his second and final term.
