Wrestling body explains styles

The Botswana Wrestling Federation (BWF) has explained the different styles used by its wrestlers at the Francistown and Selebi-Phikwe clubs.

The founding president of BWF, Moagi Sharp said one of the styles is arm wrestling which is controlled by the World Arm Wrestling Federation (WAWF) in which free hand must grip the peg at all times. All competitors must abide by and adhere to the rule, as infractions will result in fouls being called at all times.

The other style is called the Greco-Roman Style and the Free Style, where it is strictly forbidden to grasp the opponent below the belt line, or to trip him or to use the legs actively to perform any action. In Free Style wrestling, however, it is permissible to grasp the legs of the opponent, to trip him and to use the legs actively to perform any action, explained Sharp. A wrestling mat is used on Greco-Roman and Free Style Wrestling, while a Wrestling Ring is used on Entertainment Wrestling.
