The 2012 winner of the Toyota Kalahari Botswana 1000 Desert Race Duncan Vos of Team Castrol Toyota has hailed the local fans for the tremendous support they give every year.

Vos, who could only finish fourth this year, said he is always looking forward to the event as the multitudes of fans provide an electrifying experience. " It is always great when we come here. The fans are everywhere along the track and cheering you for two days, I think it always bring the best out of the drivers," he said. Toyota has proved to have a lot of following locally over the years despite disappointing most of the times.Vos said it is always sad to lose in front of the jubilant fans wielding Toyota flags high, but it has been different for the past two years as Toyota fans had something to celebrate.

Vos and Robert Howie ended thirteen years of heartbreak for Japanese carmaker when they won last year race after playing second fiddle to other competitors and coming close on many occasions in the race they sponsor.Once again hundreds of spectators were gathered all over the spectator points cheering the vehicles as they roared past, and were also at the finish line to see who comes first.
