Testing Olympic heats for Amos, Masilo

Middle distance runners, Nijel Amos and Boitumelo Masilo will be the first local athletes to take to the track early Saturday morning in what is expected to be a rather tough assignment against the worlds leading runners.

Amos, who won the country’s first ever Olympic medal at the London Games four years ago, will battle it out with Algeria’s Taoufile Makhloufi (Algeria) in the fifth heat.

Makhloufi won gold at the London games in 2012 in the 1,500m race but has since shifted to the 800m where he has been performing well.
