Louis Setshwane has taken over the reins at BDF XI following the departure of Zambian mentor, Boston Chambeshi. According to the club, Chambeshi asked to be released from his contract so that he could return to his home country to attend to his ailing wife.

Setshwane, who has been acting as Chambeshi’s assistant, will lead the team into pre-season training ahead of the new campaign. The team reported for duty last week minus several players who have been released by the club.

They have parted ways with midfielders Ofentse Mmipi and Phenyo Mongala as well as strikers Sadiki Takunda and Patrick Kaunda. Mmipi did well in his first season from Extension Gunners, but his career stalled last season where he spent more than half of the season on the sidelines due to injury. Mongala’s loan deal came to an end and the club decided not to renew it. The former Zebras winger found the going tough with the likes of Keeagile Kobe and Khumbulani Madziba doing well on the wings.
