Prisons see off Itekeng in volleyball encounter

SSKB: It took a deciding set to bring to an end the boring encounter between fellow strugglers Itekeng and Prisons man in the Mascom volleyball league in Mogoditshane on Saturday.The game that took close to two hours failed to produce a victor after the two sides were locked at 2-2.

The two sides produced a below par performance in their a match that Prisons won the game 3-1. The game was taken to a deciding after Prisons failed to maintain their dominance over the Jwaneng based side. After Itekeng beat them 25- 19 in the first set they came back to claim the second and third set each 25-17.Prisons won the game not because there were doing anything superior but because they had met an equally weaker opposition on the day. The boring affair continued in the second set, as each of the two teams did not show urgency of winning the match. The two sides simply failed to live up to the standard of the league. 

It was clear from the first whistle that the handful spectators were up for a boring day. Itekeng who had earlier lost their first match against BDF VI was the weaker of the two sides often-committing schoolboy errors. They failed to do even the basics of the game like receiving. However, the game slightly improved in the fourth set.  While Prisons was fighting to wrap up the game, Itekeng was fighting to level score. The warders crashed under pressure loosing the set 22-25 in a closely contested set.
