Playing on a heavily windy and cold Sunday morning, Pearman, who was watched by members of his family at the last hole, hit 86 on Day 2, as he struggled to cope with the windy atmosphere.The previous day, the youngster was the only golfer to break 80 on Day1, hitting 82 and 74 after 36 holes, to ensure that he ended the day leading his next challenger by eight shots.
Charles Makoko, one of the three players who tied for position three on day one with 156, finished 2nd.Oneal Mokgosi, a former national team coach, and former no 1 player in the order of merit in Botswana blamed the harsh weather for the poor performance. " We struggled with the cold spell in the mornings, then today the wind was just too much; it proved to be a tough challenge", he said after completing his match.The Phakalane Classic is this year sponsored by Orange for P120, 000. It was moved to the weekend of August 11-12 from its usual November calendar to pave way for another upcoming Orange sponsored Golf event which will see the winner travelling to Paris, France to play in the finals.The Phakalane Orange Classic is traditionally attended by over 150 players according to the Botswana Golf Union.
