MP slams be Mobile sponsorship

Francistown South legislator, Khumongwana Maoto has condemned the decision by be Mobile to sponsor the Premier League. The MP told Parliament on Wednesday that be Mobile is a new entrant in the mobile telephone industry and should not rush into such deals.

"This is a wrong sponsorship," he said when commenting on President Ian Khama's State of the Nation Address. Maoto said that while he supports the growth of national football, it is too early for Be-mobile to be venturing into sponsorships. He condemned the deal saying that it was only recently that be Mobile's parent company, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) retrenched staff because there was no money.
