BNOC boss calls for talent blue-print

The Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) president Negroes, Kgosietsile, has said there is a need for a blue-print to guide the identification and nurturing of young talent.

Kgosietsile said this will help in preparing young athletes for big tournaments such as the Olympics at a very tender age. He was speaking at the colour presentation ceremony for the Botswana team to the Olympics on Wednesday. The games start on August 8-24 in Beijing, China. Kgosietsile said it takes a lot to get athletes ready for international games hence it is imperative that preparations should start well in advance. "The nation out there yearns for results and it is time we do something," he said.

At the colour presentation ceremony, the Chinese embassy donated a cheque of P24,000 to the Botswana team. The team chef de mission, Martin Mokgwathi, has promised Batswana that the country will do well at the games. He said they will not only represent the nation in the field of play, but they will behave well to sell the country. Mokgwathi said the athletes have prepared well and he is confident that they will bring a medal from the games for the first time. Botswana will be represented in boxing, athletics and swimming.
