It is often said that a man never truly falls, but rather experiences a temporary setback. This saying rings particularly true in the story of Mpho Balopi, a prominent figure in Botswana's political landscape who was recently elected president of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

His journey has been marked by triumphs, trials, and an unexpected return that redefined his political legacy. Although Balopi had long been a recognisable name within BDP ranks, it wasn't until 2019 that he truly stepped into the national spotlight. At the time, he served as the party's secretary-general —a role he embraced with energy and innovation.

Recognising the need to breathe new life into the BDP brand, he spearheaded a vibrant rebranding campaign. Under his leadership, the party introduced merchandise emblazoned with the slogan “CAVA,” a youthful and catchy phrase that quickly caught on amongst young voters.
