Govt must crack whip on Cross border crime

The arrest of a suspected stock-theft kingpin inside a church in Mmakgori in the early hours of Sunday is, on the face of it, a triumph for community grit. Villagers along the Botswana-South Africa boundary, fed up with losing entire kraals of goats overnight, mobilised their mephato and, with limited police backing, cornered a man they believe has haunted their sleep for years. That the suspect was picked up while attending an all-night prayer service exposes, in raw detail, just how vulnerable we are.
