SEROWE: Sebopiwa Sebote is a promising young poet who has graced charity and social ceremonies that even include President Ian Khama's kgotla meetings in Serowe where her performances have clearly shown that this seven-year-old girl has talent.

The young Sebote from Mannathoko ward in Serowe, has a rhythm of prose that is outstanding in a Standard Two pupil schooling at St Gabriel Mission primary. A well known volunteer in village events programmes, she has worked on poems that relate to issues on HIV/AIDS, education as well as the African child.

She has even done a poem on Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. At a donation ceremony held by the SOS Children's Village in Serowe in December last year Sebote eloquently delivered both Setswana and English poems, highlighting in both speech and gesture the effects of HIV/AIDS and poverty on the society especially children. For her efforts she was given cash gifts amounting to P300 from the guests.
