The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Housing Thato Raphaka has defended his comments during a presentation he conducted at a conference held by Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC).

During the presentation, Raphaka flashed Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) colours. In a brief interview after his meeting with the PAC last week, the PS stated that there was nothing wrong with him having used the BDP campaign manifesto at the BHC conference. “First we should know what we mean when we talk about the government.

The government of the day is BDP, so there is nothing wrong with me having done that to say the government of the day promises this and that,” said Raphaka. He also said that what the BDP is doing forms the core of the government, noting that the two cannot be separated. He said the party is currently running the government which makes it part of the government. “We cannot avoid colours. They are everywhere, so the use of colours does not necessarily mean that one is engaging in political activity.
