The rain that fell over the weekend signalled the start of the planting season, as opposed to last year's that fell on September 27.

In an interview with Mmegi, the Director of Meteorological Services, Phetolo Phage, said yesterday that in their seasonal forecast for the period 2008/09 they had expected that by this time rain would be consistent, with normal rain showers.
