No details on another student death in Malaysia

Investigations into the death of a male Motswana student in Malaysia have not established the cause of death, officials at the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) have said.

The student, whose name is being withheld for the time being, died in Malaysia over the weekend, bringing to three the number of Batswana students who have died in that country since the beginning of this year. The principal public relations officer at the MoESD, Oarabile Phefo, confirmed the death of the final year Graphic Design student on Monday.

"It is true that another Motswana student died in Malaysia. We received a report from the educational attache yesterday and we don't have much details now," Phefo said.He would not disclose the name of the student's institution or his identity, saying investigations by the education attache in China were still underway.  However, Mmegi has established that the student attended Limkokwing University and was found dead in a lake over the weekend.  In a previous interview with Mmegi following the death of two Batswana students in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year, Phefo said his ministry would no longer give information to the press on Batswana studying abroad because most of it involved sensitive circumstances.
