Murder convict�s appeal could turn sour

A 30-year old Zimbabwean convict appealing his 10-year sentence for murder could face even more jail term, after the Directorate of Public Prosecutions asked the Court of Appeal to consider the lack of extenuating circumstances.

Clement Dube had approached the Court of Appeal yesterday hoping to be acquitted by arguing that the murder was committed in self-defence.

However, the State’s Carlos Diundu said Dube’s sentence was actually insufficient as there were no extenuating circumstances for the murder.
