Mojadife settlement gets ward status

Residents of Mojadife area have something to smile about after the South East District Council (SEDC) made a recommendation that the settlement be made part of Mogobane as a ward. The decision follows the approval of a report by the SEDC.

The settlement is one kilometre to the north west of Mogobane village. Mojadife is an area located adjacent to Mogobane historically existed as a ploughing field area. Bamalete Land Board wanted to demolish households for people they considered squatters in the settlement.

The threat of demolition prompted SEDC to form a task team led by District Commissioners and other stakeholders to investigate how the settlement came into being.
