Parliament yesterday released a statement confirming the resignation of Member of Parliament (MP) for Goodhope/Mabule, James Mathokgwane.

Mathokgwane contested for the MP seat more than twice, but only emerged victorious in last year’s October 24 general elections, ticketing under the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

Mathokgwane is a member of the Botswana National Front (BNF), which is an affiliate of the UDC.  The speaker of the National Assembly, Gladys Kokorwe, confirmed the MP’s resignation. “I received a letter from the MP this morning (yesterday), stating that he is resigning with immediate effect.
