JWANENG: A 22-year-old man of Dinonyane lands has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on New Year's Eve after luring his victim with an offer of milk.
Mmegi Online has learnt that on the fateful day, the victim together with her friend had gone to the suspect's house after he invited them with the offer of milk. When they tried to go back home, the suspect advised against the idea saying it was late and they should rather go in the morning.
Jwaneng Police station commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti, said the man sexually abused the 14-year old during the night. The friend reported the incident to the victim's mother when the pair returned home the following day.
"The mother had gone to Jwaneng to buy crickets and upon arrival she noticed the pair was not home. “She thought they were at their uncle's house and would return soon. “She however became worried the following morning and asked someone to go and check them at their uncle's place where they learnt that the friends had never showed up,” he said.
