As the forensic audit team seeks to uncover corruption and identify responsible parties for legal action, former president Ian Khama has hinted that his successor, former president Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Director General (DG) of the Directorate on Intelligence and Security (DIS), Peter Magosi are the two main culprits who necessitated the audit.

Khama, who is coming for everyone who forced him into self-exile between 2021 and 2024, told Ntlo Ya Dikgosi recently that two main perpetrators of abuse of office in government brought about the situation that necessitated a forensic audit. In a question he posed to the Minister of State President, Khama said one perpetrator exited government on October 30, 2024, but the other continued in his position in government to abuse his office into 2025.

In response to Khama's questions, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs Ignatius Moswaane revealed that the forensic audit is not focused on any specific individuals.
