MOLEPOLOLE: The Kweneng District Council (KDC) has swiftly moved to put in place a whistle blowers policy to give council employees, councillors and members of the public a platform to help fight corruption.

KDC Chairperson Motlhophi Leo told the ongoing full council session that KDC was known to be the most corrupt council in the country and that if the councillors approved this policy it would help promote transparency and curb corruption in the council.

He said that the instrument would make it easier for junior employees to blow the whistle on corruption. Leo said that in a bid to improve operational efficiency, the KDC "is developing the policy in order to have formal structures for reporting by employees, councillors and immediate stakeholders on suspected misconduct, corrupt or illegal acts within the council".
