Granny pleads guilty To assaulting friend

Francistown: A 50-year-old woman appeared before magistrate Dumisani Bagopi on Friday to face a single charge of causing harm.

Baleseng Gase of Lepashe is said to have pushed and injured Koosaletse Koosaletse on August 15, 2011 at the aforementioned village.  Koosaletse sustained a broken leg.The unemployed Gase appeared in person and pleaded guilty to the charge.

"I plead guilty as charged my Lord. What is written in the charge sheet is very true. I pushed Koosaletse because I was drunk. I did not intend to cause any harm to her. We are friends and we normally drink together. There is no how I could have injured her intentionally. I didn't even expect her to fall down," Gase pleaded. She further explained to the court that she has transport problems as she has to travel from the remote Lepashe to come to court. She also told the magistrate that she expected the issue to be resolved at the customary court. The accused is currently on bail.  Bagopi ordered the prosecution to serve the accused with statements and he set the next mention date for June 13, 2013.
