The Gaborone City Council (GCC) will next week debate a motion asking government to legalise abortion. Marulamantsi councillor, Sergeant Kgosietsile will table the motion at the local authority’s meeting next Tuesday.

In an interview yesterday Kgosietsile said a Ministry of Health report showed that between 2007 and 2011, 53.2 percent of maternal deaths were caused by abortion.
