Festive travel causes heavy traffic on A1 road

Heavy traffic was experienced along the busy A1 road from the early hours of Christmas Eve as multitudes of travellers hit the road to celebrate Christmas and New Year with family and friends.

Police are urging motorists to exercise patience and caution to avoid fatal accidents.

In an interview with MmegiOnline, Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Keogaile Tau, said traffic was particularly heavy from south to north from as early as 5am. He said the volume of vehicles was so high that officers struggled to stop motorists to deliver road safety messages.
