Boko was speaking at the recent AP national congress, where members ushered in a new Central Committee led by party president, Ndaba Gaolathe. Boko asked AP members whether they had ever asked themselves what it meant to be a progressive. “Does the label progressive set you apart from others? If so, how?” Boko asked AP members. He said AP members should state what unique qualities they bring to the coalition. That they should show what sets them apart and bring it alongside what other parties showcase to the coalition. Boko also said AP members should come and bring something to the table to raise voices for transformative change. He said they need the AP voice to be louder to transcend what would be a cacophony of voices into polyphony. He said AP’s voice, together with other voices in the UDC, should come together and form a harmonic symphony.
“The AP, BNF, BPP will bring their voices and perspective, and all these voices will blend into this polyphony,” he said. Boko stated that all voices in the tri-party coalition are important. He cautioned AP members about expressing frustration when they think change is too slow. He said frustrated people tend to self-combust and that all UDC members should avoid such weakness. Boko said UDC has a vision and therefore requires agents of that vision. He said everyone, including AP members are agent and vector of the UDC vision. “We are carriers of this vision. We carry the responsibility of translating this vision into concrete deliverables for our people,” he emphasised.
