Councillors protest Sesana’s salary


Meanwhile Gantsi District councillors have expressed dissatisfaction with Basarwa renowned activist and icon, Roy Sesana’s salary, who has been hired by the government as community facilitator at CKGR.

The government has directed the GDC to create a post for Sesana. Sesana’s position of community facilitator, according to the government is necessitated by the need to have a person who can play a facilitating role between the government and the community of CKGR. This is in regard to their requests for provision of services and establishment of income generating projects within the game reserve.

During the recent GDC full meeting, council chairperson Thato Tshweneyagae, revealed Sesana’s employment, provoking a heated debate over his salary, the majority showing dissaproval over the low pay. The councillors said the government should respect and honour Sesana who is a family man, by paying him a better salary together with his committee members. Sesana’s contract, pegged at P3,800 per month, runs for a period of three years.
