Commander Khama decorates BDF

President Ian Khama yesterday awarded medals to members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) at a parade held at the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB) in Mogoditshane.

Three senior officers, Brigadier Nelson Mokgabo Modiko, Colonel Sizinzo Nqxonde Lukashe and Colonel Ezekiel Kedule Mosweu received the Duty Code Order (DCO) medal. This medal is awarded to members of the administrative and technical staff of the BDF for their devotion to duty.

In addition, 78 officers received the Distinguished Service Medal (DSM), which is awarded to commissioned officers who have completed not less than 20 years of continuous service with good conduct. Eight of the award recipients have already retired from the BDF, while seven of them are studying abroad. A further 428 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) will receive the Long Service Order (LSO) medal during the BDF day celebrations slated for April 24.
