The Court of Appeal (CoA) has ordered High Court judge, Bashi Moesi, to provide full written reasons for a decision he delivered in December 2023.

The case involves Major Gaenamele Baitsemi, a former officer in the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), who successfully challenged disciplinary action taken against him by the army, where on December 8, 2023, Justice Moesi issued a spoken ruling that declared several BDF decisions against Baitsemi legally invalid without giving full reasons.

At the time of that ruling, the judge stated that full written reasons would be provided if any party filed an appeal and properly notified the court, as required under the High Court Rules.
