Regional Magistrate, Mareledi Dipate today granted bail to the Director of Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) who stands accused of raping his biological daughter.

The spy agent (names withheld) is accused of having sexually assaulted his daughter (names withheld), who is a minor, between March 1 and 31 early this year.

It is alleged that the accused sexually assaulted the young child at their homestead in Block 10 on numerous occasions.

Dipate highlighted that the accused is a good candidate for bail.


“The accused is hereby granted bail that he will enter into his own recognizance and provide two Batswana sureties that will bind themselves,” Dipate ordered.

The Magistrate further ordered that the accused refrain from interfering with investigations by staying away from the victim who is his daughter too.

Moreover, Dipate ordered that the accused should report himself to the nearest police station once a month.

After the accused was granted bail, Magistrate Dipate set the next mention date for status update.

“The court is adjourned until December 3 for status update,” he ordered.
