SEBINA: Police have confirmed that some beasts that were supposed to be used as exhibits in cattle rustling cases have died at a police kraal at Marapong village where they were kept.

The officer commanding of Number 15 Policing District Phodiso Dintwa disclosed during a Kgotla meeting that was addressed by the Minister of Justice, Defence and Security Shaw Kgathi on Friday. Dintwa said the cattle were dying because of the heat wave and drought that is currently afflicting the country.

He made the disclosure after a number of residents complained that their cattle were dying while still in police custody before trials.
