Botswana Medical Aid Society (Bomaid) is reaffirming its commitment to inclusive health solutions through deliberate, people-centred engagements and strategic partnerships across the country.
With a robust calendar of wellness, healthcare, and community events planned between April and June 2025, Bomaid continues to entrench its brand as a trusted advocate for collective wellbeing. These engagements build on the Society’s flagship STEPS Campaign, launched at the start of the year and amplified during the opening of the Maun office.
STEPS is a direct response to stakeholder feedback and represents enhanced benefit offerings and a more intentional approach to healthcare delivery. It stands for: • S – Specialist and Doctor Visits, including recent enhancements such as unlimited visits for certain plans. • T – Timely Interventions, such as alignment with Ministry of Health regulatory requirements for HIV testing for expectant mothers and their newborns. • E – Elderly Basket, covering functional assessments to prevent accidental falls and injuries, and vaccines like pneumococcal to help prevent pneumonia. • P – Post-Hospitalisation Care, ensuring continuity of recovery and wellness support after discharge. • S – Support through Innovation, including self-service platforms and digital tools that give members convenience and control over their health.
As articulated by Bomaid’s Chief Customer Experience Officer during the Maun office opening, “STEPS was born out of the feedback we received from our members. It is more than a campaign—it is our commitment to offering practical, impactful healthcare solutions that respond directly to the evolving needs of the communities we serve”.
Bomaid’s expanding footprint and evolving offerings are reflected in the events it will sponsor and participate in during the second quarter of 2025. These include: * BTC Francistown Marathon – April 26 * HATAB Annual Conference – April 24–25 * Ongoing Stakeholder Engagements, including partnerships with the Botswana Surgeons Association and Allied Health Services * Diacore Marathon – May 4 * Botswana Life 2nd Annual Employee Benefits Convention – May 7 * Community Health Day (in partnership with Dutch Reformed Church Botswana) – May 17 * Provider Pitso – May 23 * Second Annual CSI Conference – May 27 * Annual CECTS Sports Tournament at Kavimba Primary School – June * Botswana Dietetic Association Conference – June 26–27
“These platforms allow us to go beyond traditional medical aid services and connect directly with the people and professionals who shape our healthcare landscape,” said Tshepo Maphanyane, Bomaid’s Corporate Communications Manager.
“Our engagements are not symbolic—they are strategic acts of presence, solidarity, and progress. Whether we’re co-creating with surgeons, dieticians, or faith-based groups, our message remains the same: health and happiness should be accessible to all.”
Through these inclusive partnerships, the STEPS framework, and the continued rollout of member-focused initiatives, Bomaid is reaffirming its role as more than just a healthcare fund. It is a proactive partner in building a healthier, happier Botswana.
