Back stabbing within the party has led to the decision by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mahalapye East, Yandani Boko, to resign from Parliament with immediate effect.

Boko was one of the youngest MPs in Parliament who won in the 2019 General Election through the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) ticket.

The opposition won two Mahalapye constituencies for the first time in 2019 due to former president Ian Khama’s fights with President Mokgweetsi Masisi. Boko told Mmegi that for the past two years, he has been unhappy with the on-goings in the constituency even affecting his emotional health. “I will remain an ordinary Motswana.
