The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) chairperson, Nehemiah Modubule has called an urgent national executive committee (NEC) meeting after one of its youth leaders wrote a demand letter to NEC to announce a date for the youth congress.

The outgoing BMD youth league secretary general, Tolerance Itumeleng has given his party 72 hours to have announced the dates for the BMD youth congress. The issue regarding the youth congress was last week deferred to the NEC meeting on May 20. This comes hardly after some youth within the party held their own congress to elect a new leadership of the youth league.

“Client informs us that on the 29th of April 2017, the BMD National Working Committee was presented with a report of the BMDYL NEC, which postponed the BMDYL congress.
