Dr Chimbombi’s untimely death has left the constituency without representation in Parliament, thereby necessitating a by-election. In response, the BCP states that it is ready to ensure the people of Kgalagadi South continue to have a strong, capable voice in national decision-making. Speaking on behalf of the party, BCP Publicity and Information Secretary Mpho Pheko confirmed that the party’s Central Committee unanimously endorsed Brooks. “The BCP has resolved to contest the Kgalagadi South by-election, and we have endorsed the constituency’s choice of Tshepang Brooks. He brings the leadership qualities and community-focused values that the people of Kgalagadi need at this crucial time,” said Pheko.
She further noted that whilst the party continues to honour the legacy of Chimbombi, the priority now is to provide continuity and committed representation to the constituency. “We mourn the loss of a brother, a comrade, and a dedicated public servant. At the same time, we must ensure that the people of Kgalagadi South are not left behind during this period of transition,” Pheko said. Importantly, the BCP believes that the region’s socio-economic conditions call for bold, visionary leadership. Drawing from its track record in the 13th Parliament, especially in areas with similar developmental challenges, she said the party is confident that Brooks is the right candidate to carry the torch forward. Brooks is expected to focus his campaign on inclusive development, sustainable land management, farmers' support, youth empowerment, and the revitalisation of rural communities across Kgalagadi.
