Barata-Phathi drafts constitution for new party

Barata-Phathi, a faction of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is in the final stages of drafting a constitution for a new party.

In an interview with Mmegi, the faction's spokesman, Sidney Pilane, said they are preparing to register the party with the Registrar of Societies anytime soon.

When asked when the decision was made to form the party, he said, "That decision was made on March 20 this year.
Since then we have been preparing for the formation of the party. At the moment I can't tell you the name of the party as it will be announced later," he said.
