All is 'kosher' at Talana

TALANA FARMS: Elders from Tonota, among them, Kgosi Lekgabana Ketshogile, of Maboledi held a meeting with workers from Tonota to get firsthand information on the situation on the farm that has bred unrest in the village.

Upon arrival, the manager, Jannie Wilhemsa briefed them about the conditions on the farm. He explained that currently there are 514 employees working in different departments within the farm. He said workers are paid more than the set minimum wage and said workers have agreed on the system of getting paid P0.45 per bag because they make more money. "We provide accommodation and organise tents for workers on contract. We want to build more houses but we have a problem with Botswana Development Corporation because it would have to pay if we put permanent structures".
