South African gospel ensemble, Joyous Celebration were in Botswana on Saturday performing at the University of Botswana (UB) Indoor Sports Arena.
The event, which was preceded by a meet and greet session on Friday attracted multitudes nearly filling up the venue.
The event dubbed “The life changing concert” was hosted by local management company, Braveheart in partnership with MTN, Brand Botswana, Masa Hotel, and Mercedes Benz along other sponsors. Braveheart is well known for state-of-the-art music equipment which led to the success of the events they provide sound to.
This was visible at the concert as the sound quality was good as well as the lighting that impressed some of the attendees. They could not stop praising the organisers for a job well done. Local gospel artist, Tshepo Lesole was the opening act at the event and he did not disappoint as he went on stage to set the tone for the rest of the performances.
“We are generally happy with everything,” Braveheart owner Joe Manuel said about the event. He also said he was happy they managed to deliver on their promise to the attendants. He said they were able to prevent long queues at the entrance and also had food and water stalls at the event.
Joyous Celebration has amassed a following in Botswana to an extent that the golden circle was filled with more people compared to the other stands despite the pricing of the golden circle tickets. The group performed songs from their Joyous Celebration 23 albums with the crowd singing along and dancing with them.
“We love you Botswana and I have reason to believe that you love us too seeing the support you have given us,” said Jabu Hlongwane one of the founding members of Joyous Celebration. He asked the crowd to buy the group’s merchandise and DVD’s of their album which he said will help them return to Botswana in the future.
