The competition which began earlier this month, brings together national titleholders from over 100 countries. With the finale set for 31 May 2025, updates from the Miss World Organisation confirm Gaothusi’s participation in several key segments of the event, including two fast-track competitions. Most recently, Gaothusi was announced as one of the African quarterfinalists in the Talent Competition, a recognition that highlights her performance in the artistic segment of the festival. According to the Miss World Organisation, her performance featured a dance routine that combined Afro-Fusion, Latin, and Traditional elements. The choreography, developed in collaboration with Alex from Moonlight Dance Studio Botswana, was designed to express storytelling through movement and rhythm.
Botswana joins other eight African countries namely, Angola, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya, and Tunisia in advancing to the next stage of the talent segment. Earlier in the competition, Gaothusi was also named among the Top 32 contestants in the Sports Challenge. The Miss World Sports Challenge is intended to evaluate participants’ physical strength, coordination, and ability to work in teams. While the challenge is not a standalone determinant of a contestant’s advancement to the final rounds, it is one of several events whose outcomes feed into the overall scoring. In line with the Miss World Organisation’s criteria, the “Beauty With A Purpose” (BWAP) project remains a critical element of the evaluation process. Gaothusi’s project, titled LIGHTS, is centered on community-level first aid training and emergency response awareness in Botswana. The project was developed in partnership with Life Light Rescue and the Botswana Red Cross Society and has been rolled out in schools and community centers. It aims to empower young people and under-served populations with basic life-saving skills and practical response strategies.
