FRANCISTOWN: There are men who would leave their pregnant partners at the drop of a hat upon hearing news of their impending paternity, and University of Botswana (UB) Log Raditlhokwa says these are men who live more for the thrill of the sexual conquest rather than the pursuit of love.

Raditlhokwa also cited other possible reasons as to why men flee when baby comes into the picture.  When a woman falls pregnant, he says, such men leave because they are hit with a realisation that they do not love their partners.  He observes that a man can stay in a relationship with one woman for years just for the sex while he has the other as a marriage prospect.

"This is a worrisome (but) growing trend in Botswana and it is time parents learn to teach their boy-children to respect women and learn to face their responsibilities at a tender age because the majority of men do not value love," says Raditlhokwa.
